Ruined

Only one thing to upload today - my most recent uni project was to create a CD design for a band/artist of my choice (the CD title etc. can be fictional). I chose Bitter Ruin, an unsigned and incredible duo who I've been a big fan of for a little over a year.

So here's my design. I couldn't take it in better light, unfortunately, since I was just about to hand it in when it occurred to me.

The cover image can be seen more clearly here on my dA page.

Summer's End

Just a short post today to say the holidays have ended. Considering how I spent most of it working on my project I now feel like I need a real holiday, but at least the next one isn't terribly far off.

To celebrate finishing my Heaven & Hell project I doodled this on the way to and from uni today, then came home and started lining it. Here's hoping I'll have time to finish it what with new projects coming up.

Start of a uni project - a mock up of a guardian weekend cover about female aviators. This will be Amy Johnson's DH 60 Gipsy Moth.

A bit of nostalgia - I've been replaying the Fatal Frame series, 3 being the first console game I ever properly played and 2 being the first I ever finished on my own PS2, having bought it after playing 3 on my friend's.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Bat

Less than a month until I'm back at uni, but the temperamental art block continues. Here are a few things I've been working on in between the block.

I've been continuing my efforts with the Fireblade. A3 size, so I have to spend hours on detail. Probably end up being +48hrs on this.

Since buying Batman:The Animated Series a couple of days ago I've been watching it constantly, though her outfit here is the one from screenshots/concept art of Arkham City.

Incomplete piece as part of my Heaven & Hell project. I'm aiming for it to be a bit of a desolate stairway to heaven.

I've literally just stopped drawing this for the night morning. Almost painfully inspired by YiLee and Matteo de Longis (but no reference used). She's based off of two people I saw on a rather unusual trip to Brighton.

Dog Days

With free time comes more art block, it seems. While I have been drawing every day of my holiday (aside from 2 days that were spent painting the walls in my room), very little of what I've drawn has been worth completing. Still, I thought I'd share a few bits and pieces.

This is the start of a birthday gift for one of my friends. He's not allowed to see it, but he never checks here. It's not his bike, but it's the next one he's going to get, and drawing it pretty much entitles me to my own private chauffeur.

This is the sketch for a portrait of Sean Bean in his role as Eddard Stark that I did for my boyfriend's 21st. The finished version can be found here. It was my first time trying to create a likeness without direct photo reference.

Here is a prime example of what I spent my time doing this summer that I won't ever finish. I'll definitely be trying again in terms of another EA themed piece, though. I want to have something ready by the time she's on tour here again.

Lastly, because I'm pretty proud of the effort I put in and what a difference it's made, here's a before and after of my room :D

Phew. Long blog post. Now, back to work.

Requiescat in Pace

I'm finally on my summer holiday, and rather than spend it in the sun downpour I've been returning to AC:B multiplayer. This is the only piece done exclusively on photoshop that I like so far, so that's a huge step forward. Mind you, I still have time to screw up the colours...

Not much going on other than that. Been obsessing over Game of Thrones, so I'm bound to have some fanart done for that sooner or later. Here's a failed attempt from a few weeks ago. I got somewhat lost in her hair.

Jabberwocky

Pretty fed up of not having anything good to post (last time I uploaded something decent onto dA was oh so long ago) so here's the front cover for my Minor Project, Jabberwocky, which I finished mere minutes ago.

Having art block - and feeling guilty if I draw anything non-uni related - means I don't have much else to report, although I was featured on the Young Creatives blog. You can read the article here. Uni is nearly over, so hopefully have some decent personal art to upload soon.

Don't Panic

I'm literally tearing my hair out over my Minor Project (which, as it turns out, is surprisingly major), so I've been bribing myself to get through it by drawing anything else I've wanted to draw for the past year.

Can you tell who it is yet? If yes, have a star. Because, as we know, it is always stars.

Easter Holiday

So without warning my mother sprung a trip to Istanbul on me. 2 days later we got there and stayed for a week. Got a lot of shiny things while I was there, though most of them are for friends.

Aside from that, I guess I got pretty inspired to do something more Middle Eastern, and I got more than enough references this week. Here's a basic sketch I started while I was there.

It's a pity it had been about 4 years since my last visit, but hopefully I can make it a yearly thing like it used to be. Complications aside, I do really love that city.

The Primrose Path of Dalliance

A small preview from my Tree Time Tales uni project. Thought I'd take advantage of the vague brief and draw my soul's idol, Ophelia, sitting in the tree before falling into the brook. Will upload the finished version to dA as soon as it's done.

EDIT: 31/03 Finished image here.

Welcome to Rapture

Here's a tiny part of a fanart piece I'm dying to do, but doubt I'll have the time to anytime soon. Still, seeing as this bit works on its own I thought I could make a start and at least have finished something.

First Post

So I figured, about time I posted something for the first time. There's nothing I'm proud of to post at the moment, seeing as a lot of it is uni work done within very short spaces of time, but at least I can look back on it sometime and think how crap I was back then.

Pieces for the uni project entitled "Freddie", a short children's story by Robert Leeson. These are due tomorrow, and I only just finished them, now for some short relaxation time.
